Aymara girl, La Paz, Bolivia.
A young Aymara girl takes a break from the long walk to the capitol. She and her mother will beg on the streets and earn more than they would working in the fields.
Most of the Aymara who live on the altiplano of Bolivia and Peru subsist primarily on agriculture. Important crops include potatoes, quinoa and barley. As well they raise sheep, llamas, cattle and alpaca. Aymara women wear hats and heavy wool ponchos to stay warm in the cold mountain climate.
